Here's a list in case any of you were wondering what they all are! Ways of Life can be set! Now, I haven't tested starting a campaign with a CaW where it was set, but I was able to modify my warrior's WoL and set it to whatever I pleased. I did not play around with the voices and lines extensively, but I definitely had a female voice on my male CaW ). This holds even when you throw a female voice on a male character or vise versa. Speech in combat (and the words they say) are based off of this voice. No luck, but I imagine it's possible once a battle is loaded. Of course you could change the base stats during combat, but I had a nightmare of a time trying to locate them and came up short on my hunt. Altering these values after saving the CaW and then hopping into a free battle with the modified stats didn't appear to do anything either, so perhaps those values are nothing but show. Try as I could, the game seems to recompute the stats based on the type of warrior they are (Balanced, Aggressive, Etc Etc) whenever the menu is changed. Stats do not appear to be modifiable unfortunately from the CaW menu. After that is all the juicy stuff such as stats and values!

The CaW's gender marks the beginning of the CaW, followed by their name.

Here are my findings in this space.ĬaWs are represented by 216 Hex Values, or 432 Bytes. This being probably the most interesting feature of Empires, I looked into messing with the created characters live. Besides the fact it has a really subpar comparison tool, it's allowed me to look at save files and modify the game in RAM. Maybe doable with a modded PS3, but I really don't know.Īfter a little digging, the program HxD was easily accessible and has served my needs in almost every way. I'm not sure it's possible on the XBO and PS4. Granted, I haven't made a ton of progress with anything, but I'd like to post my findings so far, and see if there are others interested in compiling data / info to help the modding community start.Īlso yes, before anyone asks, this is for the PC version of the game. Although I haven't had any luck modifying a save file and having it load properly, I have had luck with hex editing the program as it's running. Unfortunately, everything I've come across has been obfuscated and generally a huge mess to try and traverse. I was really hoping that the format for saves for DW8E would be simple and easily moddable, along with the files that the game loads and uses for officer / weapon / other data and such. Hello everyone! New the forums here, but I've been lurking for a long time.
